Here’s a novel approach to marketing: FOX News commentator/political consultant Dick Morris recorded a twofer robocall that promotes both his new book and the Senate canddiacy of Assemblyman Greg Ball.

A reader wrote in to say he had received the call on his office voicemail in Albany, but “deleted it in disgust about 20 seconds into the message,” realizing only belatedly that I might be interested in sharing the script with SoP readers.

Thankfully, Ball is not shy about generating press – particularly now that he has competition in his bid for the seat Sen. Vincent Leibell is vacating to run for Putnam County executive. He had his campaign provide the call, the script of which is roughly as follows:

“Hi, this is Dick Morris. I’m going to be speaking at Travelers Rest in Ossining, NY on April 22 on Greg Ball’s plan for taking back the New York State Senate. I’ll also be signing copies of my new book entitled, “2010 Take Back America, A Battle Plan.”

“On behalf of Assemblyman Greg Ball I’d like to personally invite you to join us at this special evening and dinner and I look forward to seeing you at Travelers Rest in Ossining, on April 22, at 5:30 p.m. for the VIP reception and at 7:30 p.m. for dinner. Please call us back at xxx-xxx-xxxx to RSVP by April 21.”
