I can just see Judge Sharpe, with a dozen sentencing options on a piece of paper in front of him — waiting to hear the degree of your contrition before determining which box he’d check.

All you had to do is redirect your acting skills, let a tear roll down your cheek, swallow your pride and apologize for the wrongs that you were convicted of. Then you would have likely received minimal probation.

But even given the opportunity afterward, you maintained that you had nothing to apologize for.

Joe, you … broke … the … law. And you were convicted by a jury of your peers. Do we need to paint a picture for you?!?

Joe was treated eminently fairly by the judge — even after Joe’s outbursts in court during the trial. He should shut his yap and be grateful that he was spared the eight years that the prosecution wanted.

How long could he stay OUT of jail waiting for the federal case and an appeal if necessary?

Is there a 30 day max to file an appeal?
