Levy’s LG Short List?
A source who attended last night’s state Conservative Party gala at the Sheraton reports there was much discussion about who Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy will tap to be his LG running mate now that Rick Lazio has already made his selection.
According to the source, the following names have been floated; note that they’re all upstaters – just like Lazio’s preferred No. 2, Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards:
- Onondaga County Comptroller Bob Antonacci, who is currently running for AG after briefly considering a state comptroller bid.
- Assemblywoman Jane Corwin, who was just elected in 2008. Her district includes parts of Niagara and Erie counties.
- Liz Feld. The former Larchmont mayor ran an unsuccessful challenge to Democratic Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer in 2008 and briefly considered a challenge to US Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand this fall. She’s close to John Faso and is the spokeswoman for New Yorkers for Growth, the PAC that Faso co-founded with state GOP Chairman Ed Cox. A source close to Feld told me she has not yet received a call from Levy.
- Saratoga County Clerk Kathy Marchione. She received some attention during the fight over then-Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s controversial – and ultimately failed – proposal to let illegal immigrants get driver’s licenses. (She was president of the state Assoc
