‘Kettle’ Jacobs Takes Pot-Shot At Lazio
If the gubernatorial campaign is going to be little more than war-by-press release, it’s going to get very old very fast.
In the meantime, below you’ll find the latest missive from state Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs in response to GOP gubernatorial designee Rick Lazio’s slam on his Democratic opponent, AG Andrew Cuomo, for being the top recipient of lobbyist campaign contributions in this week’s NYPIRG report.
You gotta admit, Lazio pretty much walked into this one, considering what he used to do for a living – back before he became a full-time candidate for governor, of course.
“Hey Pot, kettle over here,” Jacobs said. “For Rick Lazio to criticize anyone for taking donations from lobbyists is the worst form of hypocrisy.”
“Look in the mirror Rick! Maybe you don’t like what you see, but at least admit who you are.”
“You were a Wall Street lobbyist for years and doled out millions fighting real financial reform that would have prevented the financial meltdown. JP Morgan doled out nearly $1.5 million while you were the big bank’s top lobbyist. Paladino must really be driving you crazy because you seem to have forgotten your past.”
“Rather than criticizing others, Lazio should be apologizing to the country for what he did to our financial system. And he should give back his taxpayer-funded $1.3 million bonus immediately. And why won’t Lazio make his tax returns available? What are you hiding Rick?”
Well, at least someone over at the Democratic Party is having fun.
