Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy raised just $29,937 from individuals for his failed gubernatorial bid, according to his July 15 campaign finance report.

And guess who 1/3 of that cash came from, in the form of a $10,000 contribution? Andrea Catsimatidis, the finacee of Chris Cox, son of state GOP Chairman Ed Cox and congressional hopeful in NY-1.

Recall that it has long been speculated that there was some sort of deal cut between Ed Cox and Suffolk County GOP Chairman John Jay LaValle that involved the state chairman’s support of the party-switching gubernatorial contender in exchange for the county chairman’s backing of Cox-the-younger’s campaign.

Both chairmen insisted ad nauseum that no such deal was ever cut.

There’s only one other individual contribution of $10,000 in Levy’s filing, and it’s from George Kaufman.

Levy’s statewide committee started with a balance of $0, took in $40,294, and spent $312,814. He transferred $1.3 million from his county executive committee and now has a balance of just over $1 million.
