In roughly one month, voters will head to the polls for primary elections. Turnout is usually low, partially because there are no competitive races. This year, that’s not the case. The Republican party has three heated primaries.

Most notably the race for Governor, where Rick Lazio is facing a serious challenge from self funded millionaire Carl Paladino. The party’s nominee from four years ago says this primary is a bad thing for the GOP.

Late last week, John Faso sent a letter to prominent Republicans across the state, calling for them to unite behind Rick Lazio. Arguing they are missing a good opportunity to defeat Democratic front runner Andrew Cuomo.

Faso joined Liz Benjamin Tuesday to talk more about this letter.
