Koch Advertises Against ‘Enemies’
Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch’s NY Uprising PAC has purchased a series of Web banner ads that target the so-called “enemies” who have refused to sign his trio of budget, ethics and redistricting reform pledges.
The ads, which went live this morning, state: “Albany is broken. (Lawmaker x) won’t fix it. Throw the bum out – Ed Koch.” Some $100,000 has been committed toward this effort.
Koch is already robocalling and making personal appearances on behalf of his “heroes” who have signed the NY Uprising pledges.
That list now includes Senate Democratic Conference Leader John Sampson, making Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver the odd legislative leader out.
And that explains why the targets of Koch’s first round of banner ads are all members of Silver’s Democratic majority, who are following their leader’s lead. They are:
- New York City: Assemblyman Peter Abbate (D-49, Brooklyn)
- Capital Region: Assemblyman John McEneny (D-104, Albany)
- Capital Region: Assemblyman Robert Reilly (D-109, Colonie)
- North Country: Assemblywoman Addie Russell (D-118, Watertown/Ogdensburg)
- Finger Lakes: Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton (D-125, Ithaca)
- WNY: Assemblyman Robin Schimminger (D-140, Tonawanda)
- WNY: Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak (D-143, Cheektowaga)
