Diaz Sr. Calls Out The Senate On Parker
Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr., the last remaining amigo and, apparently, a loyal friend to expelled former Sen. Hiram Monserrate to the end, released a statement this afternoon asking his colleagues whether they’ll seek to oust Sen. Kevin Parker now that he has been convicted on two misdemeanor charges.
The Bronx Democrat (who, incidentally, wasn’t in the Senate chamber for the NYC OTB vote, but nevertheless managed to find the time to type up this press release…or maybe he had it ready to go), said he particularly wants to hear from the “purists” – Sens. Eric Schneiderman, Neil Breslin, Diane Savino, Liz Krueger – who led the charge against Monserrate.
“Will Senator Schneiderman be consistent and show us what a true hero he thinks he is by starting the same kind of Senate action he organized to kick Hiram Monserrate out for his one misdemeanor?”
“Iād like to know what their plans are no,” Diaz Sr. said.
My colleague Josh Robin Tweeted earlier that Schneiderman, the AG-elect, declined to comment on Parker’s conviction, because he hadn’t read the decision. Said Robin, who covered the trial: “Unf, nothing to read…was an audible jury verdict.”
