[Supporters of continuing the tax – including a number of Assembly Democrats – argue the governor won’t be able to cut his way out of such a massive budget hole.]

Note to Assembly: If you can spend your way into a deficit, you can cut your way out of deficit and achieve a surplus. It's a fact. If you mean he can't cut his way to a surplus without screwing with your favorite causes, you'd be correct. But that's a different issue.

By the way, "tax breaks for the super-rich and service cuts for everyone else"...if it turns out that's the best way to fix our state's economy - which it is seeming more and more clear that it is - shouldn't Cuomo do exactly that?

PS: Hi Buster! Just returned from a weekend in Palm Beach. Brrrr...cold up here. Never too cold to say hello to you! In fact, I may have to hire you, so I can say hello to you whenever I please.

I find it very strange that people are forgetting that members of the private sector (i.e. Wall Street companies) are the ones who caused the financial debacle (both national and local) that has caused this depression. Now the business sector is being touted as our "saviors," and the local and national press are contributing to this collective amnesia...incredible!

Cuomo will probably say that this is just another example of "special interests" (a/k/a the individual protestors) trying to drown out the voices of "the people" (a/k/a the real estate industry's lobbyists). I'm already depressed just waiting for it.

Kudos to the protestors. Like Billionaires for Bush, we need a catchy name for Cuomo's new friends. Capitalist Pigs for Cuomo doesn't quite cut the mustard. I'll work on it.
