...I did see that...things are getting MORE interesting in NY-26, indeed. They were already pretty fascinating - starting with the whole shirtless picture thing that touched off this whole mess. - LB

(State lawmakers have two full days to make that budget deadline. Both houses passed budget bills last night.)
**********
"Are we feeling the love here?" Gov. Cuomo on announcing the on-time budget tentative agreement. Skelos and Silver chorused "Yes, are feeling the love"
*****

The Albany political class does not function on feeling love. They are guided by power, which can often ignite the same neuron high in the brain.
Most likely feel love in their private lives, but power is the motivating factor at the Capital.
Anti-budget demonstrators will be camping out at the Capital, and occuping the stairwells of the Capital. And they do not have the same love feelings as the three political leaders.
The budget will be on time, but the local/community impacts are going to be largely negative.
School districts will be cutting, teachers will be fired, classes will be larger, and the local mandates are not in place.
The local property tax cap is also not in place. It is being linked to NYC rent control extentions. And both issues are going to be a tough slog in the next 3 months.

[ Embattled GOP consultant John Haggerty was reportedly “deconstructing” David Bellavia’s petitions for Assemblywoman Jane Corwin NY-26, though her campaign says it didn’t employ him. ]

Liz, I don't know if you read Illuzzi's politicsny.net on any regular basis (I've seen you cite it once before) ... but he's got a story this morning basically accusing the Bellavia campaign of petition fraud. Says that a Genesee County voter is challenging Bellavia's petitions claiming that over 2,000 of his signatures are out of district, not registered voters, or even dead (which would be fraud)... things are going to get interesting.

I wonder if the Health Department will be helping me shovel that 8 to 14 inches of low-level radioactivity that's due to land in my yard on Friday?

[The state is en route to begin paying off a $45 million settlement in a month to resolve a little-publicized civil rights lawsuit.]

Ah, yes.
As I recall, that promotion test battery -- complete with "magic" felt-tip pen / take this or that fork in the road -- was everyone's favorite.
