Cuomo On NY-18: No Endorsement For Now
Gov. Andrew Cuomo is not taking position on a heated five-way Congressional primary in his own backyard.
Cuomo told Liz B. in her exlcusive interview this afternoon that he hasn’t thought about the race.
“I haven’t really focused on that yet,” Cuomo said in the interview.
Cuomo, a Mount Kisco resident, lives in the NY-18, currently represented by Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth.
The Democrats running the primary include Cortland Councilman Richard Becker, former Clinton, Spitzer and Paterson aide Sean Patrick Maloney, Duane Jackson, Wappnigers Falls Mayor Matt Alexander and Thomas Wilson.
But the race has increasingly focused on the intense battle between Becker and Maloney.
Maloney, of course, competed against Cuomo in an attorney general primary back in 2006.
Cuomo, as AG, would later investigate the so-called “Troopergate” scandal, a story in which Maloney played a role as a counsel for then-Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
The full interview with Cuomo airs tonight at 8 and 11:30.
