Minimum
Wage Hike needs Governor's Commitment Too:

"There
are 11 days left in the legislative calendar. Senate Republicans still want to
pass a package of tax cuts and tax credits for businesses, while Silver is
pushing for an increase to the state’s minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.50 and
then tie future increases to the rate of inflation."

We hope
Governor Cuomo can also be just as committed to passing a 'Minimum Wage Hike'
this session. We need your help Governor.

Stop Abuse and neglect of developmentally disabled Children

Gov. Andrew Coumo’s pledge to, “keep the Legislature in Albany in order to pass his measure to overhaul how abuse and neglect cases of the developmentally disabled are reported. Legislation that would create the Justice Center has passed the Republican-led Senate, but stalled in the Democratic-controlled Assembly,” is admirable and needed. In NY 21 we want the laws holding Schools and Administrators accountable for letting the bullying of developmentally handicapped children from ever taking place in our schools.

There sadly have been instances of this that need to be addressed, as currently the existing mediation process by ERC has left some Parents feeling powerless to stop bullying and lets schools off the hook in most cases by eliminating the treat of liability to the Supt., or the Schools he runs, in future court cases once the Parent consents to it appear at an ERC meeting. There has been a lack of good faith by Schools in Watertown, NY when addressing this issue, or other issues concerning bullying, which was linked to a recent student suicide in Watertown, NY. Having a child
with Special needs who suffers bullying in class is devastating to the Child
and Parent and needs to end now.

Perhaps Genting might be figuring out that a Convention Center, proposed for a somewhat remote location from the lodging/dining/night life available in Manhattan, is a loser. And putting a convention center near Aqueduct is a loser. Cuomo's proposal to put is there is simply political, not anywhere near practical. And I would suppose that most private bidders would also come to the same conclusion. Perhaps, Andrew, it's time to fold your cards on this one..
