CWF Report Pushes For NY Call Centers
A report from the Center for Working Families today points to reams of data the group says supports keeping call centers here at home in both the U.S. and New York.
The report, which relies on data from the Communications Workers of America, concludes that legislation on the state level can spur companies to open domestic call centers while also better ensuring consumer privacy.
And the study casts the outsourcing as a matter of fiscal prudence, noting companies like Verizon, Wells Faro and T-Mobile have received state and federal funds while also sending jobs overseas.
From the report:
“State legislation to improve data collection and limit subsidies and benefits to offshoring companies—like A.9809 / S.6918 in New York and A.2651 / S.1920 in New Jersey—would help retain jobs in New York and New Jersey, protect consumer privacy and provide for more effective data gathering. Lawmakers in both states should act immediately.
