Gov. Andrew Cuomo will sign today the cyber bullying bill passed by the Legislature last month, according to an administration source this morning.

The bill includes multiple provisions that will take effect over the coming weeks.

The new law would require schools to provide education to students and teenagers on cyber bullying and other online taunting and requires school officials to report the incidents.

An effort to make cyber bullying a crime, however, fell short last month.

But lawmakers and Cuomo calling this law a first start in dealing with the issue, which has sometimes led victims to commit suicide.

“That is an important conversation, but it is a very difficult conversation,” Cuomo said in a radio interview. “What are you going to do with a 14-year-old? What are you going to do with a 15-year-old?”
