Lenape Resources President on Drilling Moratorium

Let’s cut to the chase. Mr. Holko is trying to BLACKMAIL the citizens of the Town of Avon…and NYS…into allowing him to horizontally hydrofrack in Livingston County. Why sugarcoat it?

The fun part of all this is that Holko stands to lose as much, if not more, than the citizens who he is screwing — by shutting down perfectly workable and profitable wells.

Call his bluff. Local officials should make no effort whatsoever to talk to him ever
again. Residents should make plans for heating by propane, electricity or whatever in the
coming years. It’s Holko’s right as an American to be as stupid as he wants to be, even to the point of destroying himself.

Holko is free to pull up stakes and start over elsewhere — in Pennsylvania or Broome County etc. The best land has already been scarfed up by the big boys, but what the hell, go out and take your place in the competitive market, son. God bless, America. Send a postcard telling everyone how well it all works out for you and your family. You’re quite the business genius!

p.s. The Holko interview needed a LOT more focus, IMHO. He was allowed to ramble on waaaaaay too long obfuscating the facts. Here ARE the facts:

1)There’s NOTHING preventing Holko from doing what he’s been doing for the last 20 years which appears to be low-volume hydrofracking aka vertical hydrofracking.

2)Horizontal hydrofracking wasn’t even on the horizon when he started doing business in Livingston County over 20 years ago. It wasn’t economically feasible. So, nobody “fooled” him into doing business in Avon thinking that he could horizontally hydrofrack.

3) NO energy related business had ANY right to ASSUME that they would be allowed to hydrofrack in NYS. If they did, that’s their problem. I suspect the courts will soon reiterate that point to Tom West and the rest of the energy industry mercenaries. No need to feel sorry for them. Capitalism isn’t a game for sissies.

3)The desires of a few money-grubbing, totally irresponsible businessmen don’t trump the well-being of 20 million New Yorkers.
