Cohen Launches New TV Ad
This ad is going to start airing in Westchester county soon. Republican Bob Cohen, who was narrowly defeated in the 2010 race against Suzi Oppenheimer, has been actively campaigning for the seat ever since. He’s been up with ads for months, trying to portray himself as the best candidate on fiscal issues.
In a press release from the campaign they attack Cohen’s opponent, Assemblyman George Latimer, for his record on property tax issues. They’ve attacked him for raising property taxes by 46% as a Westchester County Lawmaker and blasted him for voting against Governor Cuomo’s 2% property tax cap.
But in the TV ad, Cohen doesn’t even mention his opponent. Instead, the spot focuses on what he is going to do to cut taxes and create jobs. It ends with an interesting phrase, “He’s one of us,” which I think subtly hits Latimer for being an incumbent from Albany as opposed to Cohen who is an outsider.
Here’s the ad:
If we are ever going to make state government work for our families
If we’re going to cut property taxes and create new long term sustainable jobs
If we are to stop Westchester families from paying the highest property taxes in America.
We need Bob Cohen in the State Senate. Bob Cohen is a businessman.
He’ll fight for Westchester taxpayers. improve our schools Bob will make living in Westchester easier for our families.
Bob Cohen… He’s one of us.
