The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching an expansive robocalling campaign aimed at New York Republicans tying them to Missouri Rep. Todd Akin’s controversial comments on rape.

So far, there have been robocalls aimed at Reps. Chris Gibson, Ann Marie Burekle and Nan Hayworth.

Here’s the script:

Hello. This is Julie calling from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. By now, I’m sure you’ve heard Congressman Todd Akin’s unbelievable comments about rape and his outrageous beliefs about women’s rights.

You know what’s even more worrisome? He’s not alone.

Republicans like your Congressman Chris Gibson share some of these radical, right-wing beliefs– that the government should take away a woman’s access to making informed decisions about her own pregnancy.

It’s outrageous. This week, Congressman Gibson’s Republican Party platform will include a plank that says no to a woman’s right to choose without any exceptions even in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is at risk.

Akin, who before his scientifically confused comments on how a “legitimate” rape not would cause women to become pregnant was in line to defeat Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, is now trailing in the polls.

It remains to be seen whether Akin will be a drag on other races in other parts of the country, especially after Republicans moved swiftly to remove him from the race, albeit unsuccessfully.
