DiNapoli, NYSUT And Trial Lawyers Join Desmond Boycott
Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, the state United Teachers union, the New York State Trial Lawyers’ Association and other influential groups and elected officials are joining in a Hotel & Motel Trade Council-led boycott of the Desmond Hotel in Colonie in the midst of a contract standoff with management
HTC, a New York City-based labor group that’s part of the AFL-CIO, says the hotel has refused to sign off on contract for about 160 unionized hotel workers they say contain basic industry protections.
The Desmond, given its location right off I-87 and near Albany International Airport, is a popular site for political events and other conventions associated with government and lobbying.
In a mailer being disseminated to the hotel’s customers and powerbrokers, HTC is highlighting its coalition of lawmakers, elected officials, unions and lobbying groups that’s joining their boycott.
