[Assemblyman Dov Hikind and Senate candidate Simcha Felder filed petitions to create the “Tax Cuts Now” ballot line.]

OK. Tax cuts, it is! Now ask these clowns if they’re also for cutting welfare to the ultra-orthodox who keep having large families that they can’t afford to support? You can’t do one (tax cuts) without the other (cuts in gov’t spending) unless you run a deficit — which Romney and Ryan tell us isn’t allowed (running a deficit, that is) even if you’re trying to work your way out of a terrible recession.

I’m pretty sure that Hikind and Felder don’t want to dwell on the fact that welfare recipients aren’t necessarily the stereotypical single black mother with a bunch of kids spending the day sitting on the stoop drinking yoo hoos and eating chips bought with food stamps. So, will they be voting to cut public assistance of various types to their peeps, too, or do they think everyone else should get screwed except them? How about the press asking them…rather than just taking dictation from political goofballs.

It’s easy to be for or against a LOT of things, when you only consider them one at a time…as if choices are made in a vacuum where one thing doesn’t affect another.

Let’s start talking about CHOICES. That’s what our economy (and economics, in general) is all about. Heck, that’s what LIFE is all about. There are TRADE-OFFS for EVERYTHING that we do. EVERYTHING.

To help the clueless get this through their heads, I’d like to see every dollar amount that a government wants to allocate or cut transated into a per person (aka per capita) figure. It’s easy. Just divide by the number of people in the U.S. for federal monies and the number of people in New York for state monies. Those millions or billions of dollars the government likes to talk about will suddenly become very real and personal. Then, we’re ALL ready to talk about which CHOICES we want our government(s) to make.
