[JCOPE has hired another former Cuomo aide: Director of Investigations and Enforcement Letizia Tagliaferro.]

Ellen Biben is spending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave. She's wasting the taxpayers money, IMHO, hiring countless lawyers that she doesn't need. JCOPE has become the new "clubhouse" for Cuomo's legal sycophants from his time spent as AG.

How about the press finding out how many cases per year were considered, the composition of the staff in each year and the total annual wage bill for the previous incarnations of JCOPE. Then compare that to what Biben has spent so far and her plans for full staffing of JCOPE spending. Her caseload shouldn't differ significantly from previous years. I bet that Biben's spending is waaaay out of line. Make her explain why. Biben and DiFiore are accountable to the taxpayers of NYS, despite what they think.

Also, I'd like to know how many lawyers are going to be based in Albany (the center of state government where all the agencies are) and how many are going to be hanging out in NYC doing who knows what. Where does Biben work these days? Does anybody have a clue?

For that matter, what have the already hired lawyers and "chief economist" been doing so far...other than twiddling their thumbs and having nice lunches out and about in NYC?

How about some investigative reporting from the reporting class. It should be a lot more interesting and rewarding than regurgitating Cuomo's press releases. Hey, it's just a wild thought....

Any responsible news organization which chooses to quote Hank Sheinkopf on a issue related to ethics should point out 1.) Sheinkopf was a major financial backer of the poster boy for unethical behavior, Pedro Espada, and 2.) Sheinkopf allowed major media outlets to printout outright lies about his involvement in Pedro's campaign.

Speaking of bad race-related incidents, SoP didn;t mention THIS gem today. Per HuffPost:
================================
Two attendees at the Republican National Convention were thrown out
of the convention center in Tampa on Tuesday after throwing nuts at a
black CNN camerawoman and saying, "this is how we feed the animals."

CNN reported that multiple witnesses saw it happen,
and police immediately removed the two people from the premises. Former
MSNBC and Current host David Shuster, who is attending the convention,
tweeted about the incident earlier on Tuesday....

Talking Points Memo then reached out to CNN, which confirmed that an incident had taken place in a statement it later sent to The Huffington Post.
==================================
While it's good that they threw the offenders out, I suspect that there are countless other RNC attendees who feel the same way. They're just smart enough not to be so blatant.
