Good post, mr. healy.
"Osama Bin Laden, the man who claimed he engineered and approved the attack.."
I don't believe Osama ever made this claim, but I'm willing to accept what you claim.
I am not a 9/11 truther, as the conspiracy adherents are labeled.
But if Osama was taken alive, and put on trial (somewhere); and he actually talked (if only to claim martyrdom), wouldn't some of the claims of the conspiracy school be answered?

Almost 10 years, ago we went to war in Afghanistan, intent upon "getting" the people responsible for killing nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center. We spent billions in that mission, and, finally, got the leader, Osama Bin Laden, the man who claimed he engineered and approved the attack. Whether he had a weapon, or not, or was laying down, sitting or standing, it made no difference. We got him, with a series of shots, supposedly to his head. Bin Laden, died, and he was buried at sea. He deserved to die. End of story.

With respect to President Obama it happened on his watch. His predecessor, George Bush, had 8 years to do the same. He either failed to do so, or refused to do so, whatever. Obama got the job done. Hurray, for Obama.

This new book by the Seal who participated in the assassination of Osama is strange.
The Seal makes the case that Osama was not armed, and was not murdered through Seal self defense.
In short, the Seal makes the case that the order was to assassinate Osama; and the order would come from the Oval Office.
Osama was a bad guy.
But POTUS-ordered assassinations have allegedly been banned since the 1970ies.
Would it have been better to capture Osama alive, and put him on trial somewhere?
But wouldn't he then be a martyr; a useful idiot so to speak for the radical Muslim elements?

Excellent fracking related story in yesterday's Metroland.

http://metrolandDOTnet/2012/08/30/fracked-memory/

The part about the incestuous relationship between DEC's Division of Mineral Resources (the agency responsible for putting
together the high-volume-fracking environmental-impact statement that’s
supposed to protect New Yorkers) and the oil and gas industry doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

You have to have worked in the industry to qualify for the jobs at DEC that oversee the industry. That might a really good job requirement...or a really bad one. You decide.

Yes folks Gloria Allred is stealing the show just read the glowing review by Buster.

Most of the cast of "Sex in The Assembly" will be on hand at the Deomc"RAT"ic National Convention and they plan to listen to every word that Bill Clinton the star of "I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMEN" has to say.

They are hoping to learn a lot from him in private "One on One" conversations

I am sure the "FEDS" are hoping to learn a lot too from all that is going on.

Before there was the "Oracle of Delphi" there was Count Vampire J. Machiavelli

[Attorney Gloria Allred accused Silver and “unnamed political sources” of targeting Lopez’s accuser.]

Ms. Allred is 100% correct that either Silver and/or Lopez violated the confidentiality agreement to dump on the women. The Comptroller's office released the damning emails around the close of business on Thursday (or something like that) and Sally Goldberg's story popped up NY Post website about 12:30 a.m. Friday. The timing was no coincidence and only two people could have authorized the leak -- Silver or Lopez.

It's time to put EVERYONE involved in this scandal under oath and pry the truth out of them. If anyone has done anything criminal, indict them. If anyone perjures themselves, indict them. Criminality does NOT get referred back to to the Legislative Ethics Committee. If all three of Silver's JCOPE appointees refuse to authorize a JCOPE investigation, I assume that will be a new scandal.

Note that according to the preliminary
drafts of the confidentiality agreement (as shown in the emails), there was a $5,000
penalty to be imposed on whoever flapped their lips. Hopefully, JCOPE will finds out who leaked the story to the NYP even though it's not the main purpose of the investigation. While $5,000 is peanuts to Silver and Lopez, it's not to the women. Allred and the other lawyers should make the confidentiality violator pay.

Finally, let me say, that I am appalled that a WOMAN was the lead author of the story in the NYP. I'm also appalled that local yokel and seemingly decent guy, Eric Kriss, was part of this story. Have they no moral compass?

I realize that jobs are hard to come by these days and everybody has to eat. But if you're making your living trashing the victims of sexual harassment, maybe you need to find a new line of work. The first three paragraphs of the NYP story were appalling in their blatant attempt to obfuscate what qualifies as sexual harassment and trivialize the complaints of the women in the story. They more or less tell the reader: Hey, as long as Vito didn't stick his hand in a gal's crotch, what's the big deal? If Vito wants to tell them "nice tits" or something like that every day, what's the big deal? What are they complaining about? Etc. etc. etc.
