U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., will be speaking at the Iowa Democrats’ delegation breakfast at the DNC next month, according to a story in the Des Moines Register via Reid Pillifant at Capital.

The announcement is sure to spark a fresh round of speculation that Gillibrand is a possible contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.

Also speaking: Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, the head of the Democratic Governors Association and another rumored 2016 candidate.

Iowa, of course, is the first-in-the-nation caucus and their delegation breakfasts at either convention frequently attract bold-faced names.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be attending the convention in Charlotte only one day, Thursday, and plans to keep a low profile.

Gillibrand faces Republican Wendy Long this fall for a full, six-year term.
