I find it appalling that this woman’s first instinct is call women subjected to sexual harassment LIARS.

Vito’s own PEERS on the Ethics Committee examined the whole situation and found Vito culpable. If anyone was likely let Vito off the hook, it was his fellow legislators. But they didn’t. Obviously, Vito’s behavior was so egregious and blatant that it couldn’t be overlooked. Yet Betty Ann proclaims that the Ethics Committee must be totally wrong because…because…Vito was nice to her. Jeezus. What a bird brain.

Let me spell it out for Betty and anyone else talking stupidity about Vito being set-up, as if this is a scene from the Sopranos. Engrave this on your brain:

How someone treats people on the SAME level as himself (or the chief of staff of his fellow legislator) doesn’t tell you diddly squat about how they treat people BELOW them (e.g., their staff). Nada, zip, zilch. There’s no correlation between the two types of behavior.

Sexual harassment is about POWER. Sexual harassment “works” best when your victim(s) are people beholden to you…or at least a lot less powerful than you. Why? Because when you’ve got the upper hand, your victims are less likely to complain. You have a better chance of GETTING AWAY with harassing someone. That’s why Vito pulled his crap on his employees and not Betty.

For that matter, harassment that ISN’T sexual in nature works the same way. We’ve all seen it. Some managers may be sweet as pie when dealing with the big shots, but they treat all non-management employees like sh*t. Sometimes outrageously so. It’s allowed to go on indefinitely, however, because the abuser has ingratiated himself with the powers that be. Complaining is futile.

Betty Ann Canizio needs to smarten up. SHE should stop dumping on her fellow female employees in, what looks to me like, an an effort to ingratiate HERSELF with the bigshots. Ick.
