A new spot from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is doing to Rep. Chris Gibson what they hope to do to a lot of Republican incumbents running in swing districts: tying him to the controversial budget plan as proposed by Paul Ryan, the Republican vice-presidential nominee.

In the ad, a narrator intones that Gibson voted with the Ryan plan “that essentially ends Medicare” and that he “left seniors at the mercy of the insurance industry.”

Gibson is running in a redrawn Hudson Valley congressional district that skews more Democratic than his old House seat that went further in the GOP-heavy North Country. His Democratic opponent is Julian Schreibman.
