The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is continuing its effort to link Rep. Chris Gibson to Mitt Romney and the House Republican budget plan that would overhaul Medicare.

Unlike the previous spot, this 30-second TV ad doesn’t mention the Republican presidential nominee by name, but prominently features his face next to Gibson, a freshman GOP running in a re-drawn Hudson Valley district.

The DCCC ad also seeks to boost Julian Schreibman, with the boilerplate pledge that he’ll “put the middle class first.”

Democrats are hopeful that the top of the ticket will be a drag on New York House Republicans, many of whom are running for a first or second term following the 2010 GOP wave election.

And yet, polling shows that incumbents in both parties are favored across the state at this point in the campaign season.

Here’s the script:

It’s a matter of priorities.

Chris Gibson put his party first when he voted to end the Medicare guarantee.

Gibson would make seniors pay thousands more, while millionaires get more tax breaks.

Julian Schreibman says put the middle class first.

End the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

Cut wasteful spending.

Invest in our schools and high tech research.

Julian Schreibman. The right priorities.
