Environmental Advocates File Fracking FOIL
As the Department of Environmental Conservation has apparently clammed up a day after it released a statement saying it would not seek an “independent” review of the health impact from hydrofracking, Environmental Advocates of New York has filed a Freedom of Information Law request to determine which experts DEC chief Joe Martens says he’s meeting with.
The request includes DEC, the state Department of Health and the executive chamber.
In the FOIL, the group specifically asks Martens and the DEC to release a list of outside experts, correspondents and other documents being used to assess the health impacts.
The request also seeks correspondence between the gas and drilling industry and the DEC, Department of Health and the governor’s office realting to the health impacts.
