"if you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else."
Yogi Berra
***********************************
It's a beautiful day in historic Saratoga Springs.
The first full day of autumn has cool temps.;with leaves beginning to turn; and folks out on Broadway walking their dogs.
And can we pause to give thanks that there is only 43 days left in the POTUS campaign.
The right-wing talking heads, like Peggy Noonan and Joe Scarborough, are giving Mitt hell for conducting a terrible campaign..or so they believe.
But there may be a hidden agenda in Scarborough's criticism...he said he may run for POTUS in 2016 (but Mitt has to lose in Nov. for that scenario to become reality.)
Joe has become a legend in his own mind; and his partner Mika wants more pay equity after learning what MSNBC is paying Joe.
Mitt will join Paul Ryan on a bus tour this week.
A bus tour!!!! That's like Truman's train tour during the 1948 campaign.
We're in the 21 century, for pete's sake.
Taking a bus through Ohio or Wisconsin with 43 days left is rather silly.
I understand that Paul Ryan is all bandaged (up)' up after speaking at the AARP meeting; arguing to repeal Obamacare and voucherize Medicare; and handing out copies of Ayne Rand;s Atlas Shrugged .
And humorist Andy Borowitz got a copy of Ann Romney's scathing letter to the GOP right-wing critics:NEW YORK —The Borowitz Report has obtained the following confidential letter from Ann Romney to members of the Republican Party:Dear Fellow-Republican,I’m not a happy camper.Over the past few days, some so-called Republicans have taken it upon themselves to lob some pretty harsh words in the direction of my husband. Now, it’s one thing when Mitt gets criticized by the forty-seven per cent of Americans who are parasites sucking at capitalism’s teat. But when former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan calls his campaign “a rolling calamity,” it’s time for Ann Romney to kick some ass.Which brings me to you. This is not a fundraising appeal. Lord knows this campaign has all the money it needs, especially since Mitt went to Vegas and promised Sheldon Adelson he’d bomb Tehran on Day One. As Mitt’s wife, I’m asking you to pledge something far more valuable:Your silence.By signing the pledge form below, you become an official member of Ann Romney’s Circle of Silence, an élite tier of the Romney for President Campaign. As a member of the C.O.S., you will receive priority ticketing to the Inauguration, as well as a collectible “Loose Lips Sink Mitt” ball gag. All you have to do is shut the freak up until Election Day.That’s right, for the next forty-six days, I’m asking you to bite your tongue every time Mitt says or does something idiotic. If you think that sounds difficult, welcome to my world. And Peggy Noonan, if you’re reading this: you want a piece of Ann Romney? Then get in the ring, girlfriend, and I’ll mess you up good.Vote for Mitt,Ann

I have just received this email from the Barack campaign.
Using the phase "last Dinner with Barack" has some religious overtones...i.e. Christ's Last Supper.
I know Barack promised on his inauguration"Let it be known that this was the day the oceans stopped rising and the planet began to heal...", but his campaign may be overdoing the Christ metaphor.
Incidentally, a religious historian has located a parchment that inscribes Christ using the phrase "and my wife.."
Was Christ married?
And what wag asked last week: "Did Christ's wife get along with her father-in-law/"
******************
Gordon --

We're already figuring out the seating arrangements for the last Dinner with Barack of this campaign.

Two of these seats could be yours.

But only if you enter.

Gallop and Rasmussen tracking polls have the national POTUS race tied as of yesterday.
But that is not the Electoral College challenge facing Mitt.
Romney cannot get 270 EV without winning at least two major swing states....Va.,Fl., Colorado,Wisconsin or Michigan.

The battle for control of the Senate is very, very important.
The radical House GOP caucus is likely to lose a few seats, but maintain its' majority.
Barack may lose, although the polling in the 12 swing states look good for him right now.
If the GOP takes the WH, and control of Congress, this country will move very far to the right.
So the Senate is important.
Anyone can keep current with the crucial Senate races at realclearpolitics
As of now, it appears that the Dems. can keep the GOP from gaining control of the Senate.
Wisconsin's Tammy Baldwin has taken the lead in several polls against Tommy Thompson. You go, girl!
In Ct., the GOP wrestling former owner McMahon is pouring tons of money into her race.
But the Dem. Murphy is holding his own.
This race is interesting, and I can't imagine that the Nutmeg state voters will send McMahon to the Senate.
Ohio's incumbent Dem.Sherrod Brown is holding his lead..he is an old labor liberal, and should win.

Missouri's Dem. McCaskill has taken leads in recent polls, and being a good campaigner, and a moderate, may pull this one out against radical Adkins.
Tester, the incumbent Dem. in Montana, is in a tough race, and he may go down.
Va. Dem. Tim Kaine seems to be out polling George Allen, and could take this close race.
Our own Gillibrand remains safe. (continued below)
safe.
Then there is the Mass. thriller, Brown v. Warren.
In Thurs. nite's debate, Brown opened with an attack on Warren's alleged use of some Okla. Indian blood to gain employment.
Warren was too nice in response.
Now, if I was in Warren's place, I would have looked at Brown and the red light of the camera, and responded:
"Have you no shame, Mr. Scott?
You are really skimming the bottom of the political scum pond with this phoney issue.
Have you ever seen the old classic Herblock cartoon of the dirty campaigner Richard Nixon coming out of a sewer?
Well, that could be your fate if you keep harping on this phoney Indian blood issue.
And stop calling me Professor?
Everybody knows what you are doing with that ....you are using that to paint me as a Harvard elitist..so don't do that!!
Now, I have under by podium a copy of the Cosmo. mag. in which you posed nude centuries ago.
Do you want me to hold that picture up tonight?"

(omney, who previously stated he had paid at least 13 percent in federal taxes in prior years, donated more than $4 million to charity in 2011, but claimed just $2.25 million, which “inflated” his tax rate to 14 percent.)

Fugetaboutit!!
Move on!!
The Romney's likely have a net worth of over a billion.
So what?
Mitt has a private sector CEO mindset.
He has had very little contact with blue collar workers; and even the average middle-class professional.
As liberal NYT op.ed.,economist, Paul Krugman wrote yesterday
".. the fact is that the modern Republican Party just doesn’t have much respect for people who work for other people, no matter how faithfully and well they do their jobs. All the party’s affection is reserved for “job creators,” a k a employers and investors..."
And as regard to Mitt's wealth, to quote F. Scott Fitzgerald:
"itzgerald's words in his short story "The Rich Boy" (1926), paragraph 3: "Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft, where we are hard, cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand."

(Jill Biden inadvertently made a dirty joke about her husband’s, ahem, size)
****************
Dr. Jill is adorable, a delicate flower, an attractive fresh kumquat.
As I watch this video, the innuendo seems to be only in the eyes or brains of the crowd.
Nothing in her speech would, on surface, imply any comment on genital size.
Besides, size is irrelevant.
The crowd may have been bussed in from the Letterman show.
