Jeffries Networks
If all goes according to plan for him this fall, Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries will be heading to Washington as a newly minted member of the House of Representatives.
Jeffries, unlike his Democratic counterparts in other areas of the state, is not expected to face much trouble this November.
He did face a, shall we say, spirited challenge from New York City Councilman Charles Barron, but prevailed in the June 26 primary.
With the general expected to be a layup, Jeffries is unencumbered with the appearance of traveling to Charlotte for the four-day-long party that is a national political convention. He can network, schmooze and build relationships now that might pay off once he’s elected.
“It’s been wonderful for me to be here and meet potential and future members of the House of Representatives who have been successful in their Democratic primaries, who expect to be successful in November who are going to be part of a new Congress that we all hope that will begin to get back to doing the business of the American people,” Jeffries said.
