McDonald Receives ESPA, NARAL Cash
A 24-hour filing with the Board of Elections shows Sen. Roy McDonald, who hopes to fend off a primary challenge from Saratoga County Clerk Kathy Marchione today, received a $9,500 donation from the Empire State Pride Agenda, along with a $6,500 contribution from New York State NARAL PAC, part of the reproductive rights group.
It was reported earlier that Marchione was given $9,000 in contributions from the National Organization for Marriage and Marriage PAC NJ, two anti-same-sex marriage groups.
McDonald was one of four GOP senators to back the legalization of same-sex marriage last year.
The Republican lawmakers who backed the law have also benefited from the New York Unity PAC, a committee of rich GOP leaders and hedge-fund managers who have contributed $175,000 since August to the effort
