Sen. Avella Explains Call for Speaker Silver to Step Down
As a member of the Senate, Tony Avella does not get a say in who leads the Assembly. But he does have an opinion on who should not lead the chamber. He’s calling for Sheldon Silver to step down from his post as Speaker of the Assembly in the wake of the Assemblyman Vito Lopez scandal. Silver has faced a lot of criticism for helping arrange a settlement with two women who accused Lopez of sexual harassment. Avella explains how that has impacted Silver’s ability to lead.
