Cecilia Tkaczyk, one of two Democrats vying to take on Republican Assembly George Amedore in a newly created Senate district, is out with a new mailer making hydrofracking an issue in the race.

Tkaczyk, in a reference to Amedore’s building company, says he is planning to make “an extreme make over” of the state with fracking.

The Capital Region area Senate seat is not considered the main hot spot for fracking. The state’s Southern Tier is where natural gas is believed to be especially rich.

Still, this is the second Democratic candidate today to make fracking an issue in their race.

Earlier, Democrat Justin Wager, who is challenging incumbent Greg Ball, questioned whether the Republican lawmaker is truly opposed to hydrofracking in a Youtube video.
