Governor Cuomo, we beseech you here in the Southern Tier not to open our communities to fracking. You cannot be President in 2016 unless you change your thinking on this one issue. You must become our champion. Fracking destroys investment in renewables–that’s the future. Put New Yorkers first.

It is remarkable that President Obama and President
Clinton are not yet well informed as to the devastating effects that drilling
for natural gas has on our water, our air, our soil and a host of other
things. They should both take a tour of
the vast destruction presently occurring in many states where fracking is being
done – for example, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas, and Ohio. They should both study the plethora of
scientific research, which makes it absolutely clear that natural gas drilling
must be stopped. Both leaders will
change their tune as soon as they learn the facts.

We know Governor Cuomo is aware of the science and the facts
regarding natural gas drilling. There is
a tremendous opportunity before him to use this knowledge to become a powerful
national and world leader by beginning immediately to pave the way for the end
of hydrofracking. He could then move
full steam ahead with the implementation of renewable energy sources before
it’s too late. He could not only be instrumental in saving us from the disasters
of natural gas drilling, including the impending collapse of our climate, but
in addition, could position himself as a powerful political leader making
himself more electable for President in 2016.
If he continues to disregard the irreparable harm caused by natural gas
drilling, his hopes for the presidency will come to nothing.

President Obama and former President Clinton have swallowed the industry claims that we have 100 years of cheap methane buried in US deep shales. Soon, they will need to listen to the scientists of the USGS that show these claims are overblown. They will have to listen to climate scientists that show how the atmosphere is being polluted with methane and accelerating climate change. They will realize that we need our land available for growing food and our clean water available for drinking. It is unfathomable that some drought stricken areas are importing drinking water while using their own limited ground water to frack wells. They will also have to look into the upside-down economics of shale gas, where it costs more to remove it from the ground than it can be sold for.

President Obama and Governor Cuomo need to show true leadership by ending all fossil fuel subsidies and banning all extreme forms of fossil fuel extraction, such as shale fracking and mountain top removal. They need to support our moving to 100% renewables as quickly as possible.

I invite Obama, Clinton and Cuomo, at my expense, to go to Dimock Penn. from my house with me and try the citizens of that town’s water. Then tell me how natural gas is “clean energy”.
