Republican Sens. Greg Ball and George Maziarz scored a 90 percent rating from the state Conservative Party — the highest among their colleagues in the chamber.

The Conservative Party released its ratings of state lawmakers this morning, with the third party pointing to key measures such as the Tier Six pension bill, the state budget and the I-Stop legislation.

In the Democratic-led Assembly, Senate candidates Sean Hanna and George Amedore scored a 75 and 80 percent rating respectively.

“A review of the twenty bills used in this year’s ratings will show voters where the bills passed are erroneous and where they have helped New Yorkers,” said Party Chairman Michael Long. “The ratings give voters a scorecard on how their individual legislator voted on a cross section of bills considered in the legislative session.”

According to the Conservative Party’s metrics and voting criteria, the state Senate, which is controlled by Republicans with a 33 to 29 majority, has come more in line this past legislative session with the party’s goals.

The Senate’s overall average rating grew from 51.22 percent in 2011 — the year same-sex marriage was approved — to 72.54 percent in 2012.

The Conservative Party has wielded broad influence over statewide and legislative races, making it one of the more influential third parties in the state’s history.
