Breezy Point Homes Of Turner, Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long Destroyed
The homes of both Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long and outgoing GOP Rep. Bob Turner were destroyed as a fire caused by Hurricane Sandy swept through their Breezy Point neighborhood.
Neither man was injured in the fire that caused widespread devastation in the area. Long was apparently not home at the time of the fire.
Nearly 100 homes were destroyed in the fire.
Long and Turner are practically next-door neighbors and formed a tight political bond during the congressman’s victory in a special election replace Rep. Anthony Weiner.
The story was first reported by Crain’s and a local blog True News and confirmed by Long’s office and Turner’s spokesman.
Long told Crain’s that “The houses aren’t even burnt. They’re completely gone.”
Turner’s office plans to release a statement this afternoon.
