Brooks On Attack Over Negative Ads
What’s the best way to respond to a negative ad? With one of your own.
Republican Maggie Brooks is hitting back at claims made by Rep. Louise Slaughter — found inaccurate by the Fair Elections Practices Committee — that she is tied to a host of corruption cases in Monroe County.
The race is one of the marquee battles in the battlegronud House districts.
In Brooks’ ad, the three-term county executive accusses Slaughter of raising taxes while voting to increase her own pay seven times.
“In deciding who will best represent their families in Congress, local voters have a fundamental choice to make between the very best of our community and the absolute worst of Washington,” said Brooks for Congress Campaign Manager Noah Lebowitz. “Mrs. Slaughter has voted to raise her own pay seven times, has hiked taxes on middle class families, and is guilty of lobbing ‘false’ and ‘fictional’ attacks, yet still refuses to pull her lies from the air. After spending over 25 years in Congress, it’s clear that the Slaughter way has simply become the Washington way – pay raises for her, higher taxes for us, and negative ads to cover it up.”
