GOP Congressional candidate Maggie Brooks is clearly getting annoyed with some of the hardball ads being launched against her by Democratic Rep. Louise Slaughter.

In response to the ads that have tied the GOP candidate to a host of corruption issues in the area, the three-term Monroe County is launching a website called “Stop The Lies Louise” which essentially amounts to countering some of the claims the incumbent Democrat’s campaign is making in their ads.

The Brooks campaign is also filing yet another complaint with the Fair Practices Committee over claims made in a Slaughter mailer Republicans say makes inaccurate claims.

“Another day brings another false and deceptive attack on behalf of entrenched Washington insider Louise Slaughter,” said Brooks for Congress Campaign Manager Noah Lebowitz. “That’s why we have filed a second grievance with the Fair Election Practices Committee, which we fully expect will result in yet another guilty ruling in the near future. In the meantime, we’ve also launched www.StopTheLiesLouise.com to expose Mrs. Slaughter’s blatant disregard for local voters and our community’s honest and open electoral process.”

A Siena poll last month showed Slaughter beginning to gather steam over Brooks, with the longtime Democratic congresswoman holding a 10 percentage-point lead while also hitting the magic 50 percent mark and then some. But with the presidential race tightening, Republicans hope some of those Romney votes may trickle down to House races, even in a Blue State like New York.

Majority Leader Eric Cantor is heading to the district Tuesday to help raise money for Brooks, who is also launching a new contrast ad in the coming days.
