ESPA, PEF Fuel Tkaczyk
The Public Employees Federation and the Empire State Pride Agenda are sending a generous amount of cash to Democratic Senate candidate Cecilia Tkaczyk as her race against Assemblyman George Amedore begins its final week.
Both PEF, a union of white-collar state employees, and ESPA contributed $10,300 each to Tkaczyk, a school board member in Duanesburg, according to the 24-hour filings on the Board of Elections website.
The combined $20,600 is not on the same level of the help that Amedore, who runs a home building business, has been able to marshal for the race. He has also $242,403 in support from the deep-pocketed Senate Republican Campaign Committee.
The race has also seen its share of outside money coming in, including two super PACs pushing campaign-finance reform on Tkaczyk’s behalf.
Democrats believe Tkaczyk is competitive in the Albany-area district that was added to the Senate by Republicans during redistricting as an insurance policy to keep the majority. Still, the race is very much a tossup as Amedore has the money advantage and name recognition.
