Lindsay Lohan has endorsed Mitt Romney.

Robert Redford has endorsed POTUS Barack.

While I personally haven't endorsed either to date, I'll listen to Redford any day over Lindsay.

You can go to huffingtonpost or google Redford's post:"Why I'm supporting President Obama."

NBC's pollster says the POTUS race is essentially tied: 47 to 47 % nationwide.
And the swing states are closing into the very tight, if not, tied race.

But this poll does not reflect the early voting or absentee ballots.
On the former, the Chicago Obama machine has poured money and organization into early vote getout and in an extensive ground game.

It continues to look positive for the Dems. to maintain control of the Senate.
There are tight races...see Mass. with Brown v. Warren; Mont..with incumbent Tester apparently in a too close to call race up there;Ct. still has Dem. Murphy over the former wrestling CEO lady; MIssouri Dem. incumbent McCaskill holding her lead.
The Va. lead for Kaine has narrowed, and it will be a close one.

RIP George McGovern
*******************************
McGovern was a nice human; a decent man.
It's important to remember that McGovern, as Senator, was the first to publicly oppose the LBJ Vietnam war...the buildup of ground troops in 1966.
That was a courageous political move.
LBJ, as Senate leader and as POTUS, did not like opposition; and he used unlimited power leverage to keep the Senators in line (so to speak).
Perhaps the most beign threat LBJ would use is ask an opposition Senator if s(he) wanted another dam built in their state (Idaho's Frank Church).
He also used Edgar Hoover's files to blackmail Senators who may have had closet skeletons to keep hidden.

McGovern was not guided by having a dam built in S.Dakota; or by any scandals in his closet (there were none of substance).

Below is a paste of an older post I made on McGovern's visit to UAlbany in 2009. At that session, he said he was happy to be in Albany, but that at his age, he was happy to be anywhere.
And also that he wanted to be POTUS in the worse way; and that was the way he campaigned:

(George McGovern spoke at UAlbany.)
I attended McGovern’s session at UAlbany.

It was good to see him, and the excellent turnout.

His book on Lincoln is part of the Arthur Schlesinger Jr. series on
American Presidents. I began reading it earlier today, and it appears to
be a good read.

McGovern lauds Lincoln, but also does not ignor his warts-his
un-Constitutional suspension of habeas corpus and the shutting down of
opposition newspapers.

When I got to McGovern to sign the book, I had a chance a ask him one quick question:

Would JFK had sent in 500,000 ground troops to Vietnam. He said no, it was LBJ who did that.

I didn’t have an opportunity for a followup. It would have been, could
JFK had been killed because he refused to agree to sent those troops?

The Senate rumble
***********************
Is it possible that this election will be history in 17 days.
Time moves rapidly...I don't know where decades of my life went.
So courage everyone....this will be over soon.
And then the real fun will begin.
If Obama is re-elected, he may attempt to finesse the coming fiscal cliff conundrum.
That is, if the Senate remains in Dem. hands, and does not flip to the GOP.
The fiscal cliff will remain in play if Mitt is elected, and the House is GOP and the Senate remains in Dem. control.
The POTUS polls are all over the place, although they are consistent in showing this to be a close contest...in total votes. Perhaps not in the electoral college total. The EC total needed in 270.
If Mitt wins, and the House remains in GOP hands (as is likely), our country will move far to the right if the Senate flips to the GOP.
I don't want to see that.
The realclearpolitics data on the Senate rumble continue to show some good omens for the Dems.
The Dem. candidates remain ahead, some by just a couple of points, in Ct.,Wisconsin; Ohio; Pa.;MIssouri;Mass (you go girl, Eliz Warren);and the race is also tight in North Dakota;Indiana; and Montana (Dem. Sen. Tester may go down).

NYNow interviwed Senate GOP Deputy leader Tom Libous,
*********************
It was an interesting interview.
Casey Seiler asked Libous if he had any regrets about the 2009 caper, with he and Dean Skelos forming a devils pact with the 3 amigos...with 2 of the amigos in, and going, to prison.
Libous expained that they had no idea on the details of Espada's escapades in the past...he and Skelos just didn't know the dept of Espada's corruption.
LOL.
Libous' pants were on fire right in the middle of the interview.
I understand it took at least 6 Southern Tier fire departments to put out the flames.

Quinn has a lot of "GUTS" she had the "GUTS" to support a third term for "The Prisoner of City Hall"

She had the "GUTS" to sell Bill Thompson down the River in 2009

She has the "GUTS" to be puppet of "The Prisoner of City Halls" and sometimes she has the "GUTS" to oppose him when it is to her benefit.

She is a "GUTS" be a windmill

NYC needs a real Mayor and that person is not Quinn

I will say this again

Naming an AK-47 knockoff to mock a US Congressman and Korean War veteran is an insult. ChiComs and North Korean troops armed with real Kalashnikovs very nearly killed Rep. Rangel and almost drove US ground forces into the sea. So those ignorant Mississippi "Johnny Rebs" (probably draft dodging "chickenhawks") can sit their butts on the CR Edition and rotate!

Real patriots respect America's fighting men and women, past and present. But I should know better than expect honor from backwater traitors who probably openly display the disgraced and defeated Stars and Bars (next to their Nazi memorabilia).

Hooah! Mr. Rangel.
