No. Johnson, as you may recall, actually was a candidate in the Republican primary (hence why he's ineligible for the other 2 states). He drew negligible interest. He had his chance, and failed.

I read the NYT article, and they are seriously overblowing Johnson's support. I also note that the Libertarian Party is no innocent bystander in this-- just this year they tried to get the Republican nominee thrown off the ballot in Washington. They did the same four years ago in Texas. Funny how they always target the Republicans for this, but almost never the Democrats.

As for Stone, he is following the money. He has a grudge against the LP over the Redlich/Davis flap in 2010-- he would not do this for the LP if he didn't have a serious personal benefit for it.

Could Roger Stone defeat Mitt and Ryan?
Stone says "Republican blood will run in the streets b4 I am done."
***************************************
Mr. Stone, the alleged dragon slayer who believes he brought down Spitzer, is working, pro bono, to help Libertarian P. POTUS candidate Gary Johnson.
Johnson will be on 48 state ballots next month; and he could generate enough interest in Nevada, New Mexico,Ohio and FLorida to cost Mitt the close election.
I like Johnson's postion on ending the failed war on drugs; his position on civil liberties in the surveillance age; and cuts in the Pentagon.
Stone's involvement is a turn-off, however.
Today's NYT has a good story on Stone and Johnson.

Hellzapoppin!!!
The New York Times editorial board gave a long shout out to rationality yesterday.
It’s editorial, the only one covering the entire page, is titled:
“Time to pack up and leave”(Afghanistan) .
It’s as though the editorial board awoke from an 11-year Rip Van Winkle doze; and exclaimed Eureka.
Perhaps the board asked the Russian military about this; and were told Afgan. is the graveyard of empires.
Perhaps the board remembered Charles DeGaulle’s oft repeated question to LBJ and McNamera “Why are you in Vietnam?”
The last paragraph of the NYT editorial sums it up very well:
“Post-American Afghanistan is likely to be more presentable than North Korea, less presentable than Iraq and perhaps about the same as Vietnam. But it fits the same pattern of damaging stalemate. We need to exit as soon as we safely can.”

[Many of the companies that have been awarded lucrative computer programming and software engineering contracts at agencies such as the Department of Labor and the Office of Technology rely heavily on foreign workers.]

Last year NYRA bid out its telephone operator call center. The winner was a US company based in Oregon. The company provided the fiscally "beleaguered" NYRA better service for a fraction of the cost. This cost-cutting was exactly what Cuomo's franchise oversight board had demanded NYRA do; the bid and the contract were approved by Cuomo's Racing and Wagering Board.

Then Cuomo flipped out. Called press conferences. Tarred and feathered NYRA's management. Demanded an IG investigation. Forced NYRA, at extreme cost, to build a new call center in Amherst near Buffalo so Cuomo could announce "job creation" in an area of the State he has largely ignored.

Meanwhile, Cuomo's own DOL and OFT ship jobs out of the State and out of the country at fiber-optic speed. What's going on here?
