Wendy Long does not speak for NY. That is obvious. Senator Gillibrand does and has my full support.

HVHF aka fracking is not an issue to play politics with. Republicans and Democrats alike need to address this as a state issue for all citizens.

The toxic technology required to make drilling by HVHF happen will devastate this earth let alone NY! That is not an exaggeration. The work to ban HVHF is global. So to claim that there are "some environmental extremists" pushing this issue is absurd.

The long term costs of HVHF will hurt our economy and tax payers of NY. It is a boom and bust industry that leaves a trail of toxic waste in its path. Millions upon millions of gallons of fresh drinking water are being destroyed by this industry. That is what I call extreme.

Mrs Gillibrand is working for the benefit of NY State. I demand clean air and water over corporate profits. My children and grandchildren deserve this. She gets that.

I live in the southern tier and know from going door to door that most people know the truth about gas drilling: their homes will lose value, their property taxes will go up to pay for diminishing services, they fear for their health. We live across the border from Pa., it's just a short drive to see for ourselves all the water buffaloes in peoples' front yards. We don't see any signs of prosperity, only despair. And why are most of the men we see driving trucks with out of state license plates? No thanks.

I personaly do not know why Wendy Long (R-NY) is wasting her time in challenging incumbent U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand! (D-NY) Long will never win and if anybody thinks that Ms. Long has a chance in hell, I would advise that they go see a head shrink b/c chances are they are mentally ill.

As a conservationist Republican who lives in upstate New York, I find
Long's statement about celebrity second homes assinine. We are real people up
here who value our air and water. As one who gets his drinking water sourced
from wells through a municipal system the issue is a serious one to me and
several thousand of my neighbors. I would suggest both Long and Gillibrand need
to really understand who upstaters really are and where we are.

My wife and i own a small organic farm in upstate NY. We work hard. We are not movie stars or celebrities, but we adamantly oppose fracking. The economy here has been slowly improving, thanks to the wine and beer industries, farm stands and farmer's markets, and other small businesses that depend on tourism. All this depends on the natural beauty of our region. The intrusion into this system by a heavily industrial process of resource extraction is exactly what we don't need. Opportunists like Long, hoping to attract outside money from PACs supported by billionaire oilmen, are selling us out. It's heartbreaking and despicable.

Long's low poll numbers are telling. Few believe the industry arguments she parrots to promote drilling.

Good economic policy is to create long term jobs for clean sustainable energy.

Wendy Long must not get out of NYC much. The vast majority of the NYers working to keep unconventional gas drilling out of the state are grass roots, regular folk from all parts of the political spectrum. I live in Broome County, right along the PA border. Watching the multiple negative impacts that gas drilling has inflicted, while the economic positives have accrued to drilling companies, a few large landowners, and mostly non-PA workers, has convinced me that drilling is wrong for New York.

environmentalists are not "far left," but rather they are the conservative ones worried about preserving our assets. there are more lasting jobs in solar and wind than the boom/ bust fracking economy, and we don't have to sell the farm to have plenty of energy!

“If he indeed kills it, I will indeed criticize him,” ... So if the health assessment shows it is too dangerous, she is still going to criticize the governor for being prudent and putting our health and well being before money. There are better ways to create jobs than polluting some of the most precious resources we have: our water and land.

Why is Long so short on seeing what her constituents really want. NO FRACKING IN NY. Dear Governor, make no mistake, we will remember what is done about Fracking when whatever decision it is you make.
