Maffei Releases 2nd Ad On ‘Forcible Rape’ Bill
Democratic Congressional candidate Dan Maffei has released another TV ad calling attention to Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle’s support of a measure that at the time included language on “forcible rape.”
The first TV ad that Maffei released that was critical of the measure drew a swift response and condemnation from Buerkle, the incumbent Republican who defeated Maffei for a second term two years ago.
Buerkle released her own TV ad to respond, calling Maffei’s attack “shameless.”
The spot released this morning, titled “Your Whole World,” features a woman who says she was a victim and that Buerkle’s record in Congress is “just too extreme.”
The “forcible rape” language was initially in a measure designed to cut off public funding of womens’ contraceptive services, but was later removed following an outcry over the phrasing.
