BTW I was one of three Democrats to vote NO in 2007 on A11590 the windfall profits tax bill that Montano slams Boyle for voting against. The idea of penalizing Big Oil for circumstances beyond their control was pandering and political grandstanding, not real lawmaking. Cut excise tax on gasoline if you want to give NY consumers a break.

Name-calling doesn't help Assemblyman Boyle's cause. He's a good and decent fellow and an able legislator. Rick's dad, Armando Montano, was my Assemblyman back in the 1970s. He, too, was a decent fellow and able legislator, but he lost to Assemblyman Louis Nine in 1982 when redistricting eliminated a Bronx district (Monty didn't have the support of the Stanley Friedman-led Bronx Democratic party and the arson fires in the 1970s depopulated the South Bronx.). Instead of defending his district against Assemblyman Jose Serrano, Monty chose to primary Nine who was ailing at the time. Assemblyman Nine died of cancer in early 1983 and was succeeded by my friend, Hector Diaz.

Rick has made a good name for himself as a county legislator and one who isn't rolled by the local party. For all the above and because he's endorsed by a childhood best friend, I hope Rick wins. Sorry, Phil.

Rick looks like a creep. Why anyone would vote for a long island democratic member for state assembly or senate is beyond me.
