Democratic House candidate Mark Murphy tosses the kitchen sink and then some at his Republican opponent Rep. Michael Grimm in his new TV ad out this morning.

The 30-second spot is a deluge of headlines on the allegations of ethical misconduct directed at Grimm, all of which the Republican freshman has denied.

The spot concludes: “That’s what we know about Congressman Michael Grimm. Imagine what we don’t know.”

It’s something of an old political trick to suggest that one’s opponent is hiding some deep dark secret. Still, even if it is a rehash of Grimm’s problems, it’s a tough ad that’s designed to raise questions about the Staten Island Republican.
