I loved to go to Robert Moses beach field number 2 on the right side! We used to have a blast! Such good times!

This was my (and my parents’) favorite beach. We drove from NJ(!) to Robert Moses State Park for it’s natural beauty, at times through terrible Long Island traffic. I haven’t been there in more than thirty years, but still I feel devastated at the loss.

OMG! I know it is terrible what happened to people that lost their homes. But to me this is such a devastating sight. I learned to swim at this beach! I grew up going to this beach every weekend of the summer with my parents and family (I always had my birthday parties at Robert Moses State Park.) As a teenager, I had many fun times with friends. Soooo many wonderful memories. I bring my husband and children here every year (as I live out of state now) I am so sad to see this. I hope they rebuild/reclaim the beaches. They were very nice beaches.

Especially since that’s not a photo of Jones Beach, but Robert Moses State Park – a bit (15 miles) to the east of Jones Beach.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still devastating – about 200 feet of beach missing, and it will be enormously difficult to pump enough sand to restore these shorelines before next summer.
