I’m a little at getting around to this, but the National Republican Campaign Committee is going after Democratic House hopeful Julian Schreibman in an attack ad that recasts his presumed strength: His record as an attorney.

Schreibman has touted in his own TV ads that he’s an effective prosecutor.

But this NRCC ad — which began airing over the weekend — puts a spotlight on Schreibman’s work as a defense lawyer.

The ad points to Mark Holzwanger, a former client of Schreibman’s who donated $3,750 to his campaign. Holzwanger, an accountant who was charged of misue of clients’ funds.

While a court determine that there was no evidence Holzwanger or his parnter had anything to do with a payroll fraud, the NRCC goes as far to compare him to Bernie Madoff.

Schreibman defended a partner in a New York firm convicted of defrauding his clients out of millions.

The man faced decades in prison, until Schreibman got him off.

Now the accused thief is helping fund Schreibman’s campaign for Congress.
