As House Majority Leader Eric Cantor makes his trek to the North Country on behalf of GOP challenger Matt Doheny, Rep. Bill Owens is calling attention to the still un-approved Farm Bill that is stalling in Congress.

Owens, a Democrat running in the heavily rural and conservative House district, links Cantor and Doheny to the failure to get the bill through Congress.

“New York farmers were hurt and continue to hurt with each passing day when the Farm Bill expired last month without so much as a vote in Congress. Today, my opponent brings to Watertown Majority Leader Cantor, who is primarily responsible for the voting schedule in Congress. By campaigning with Mr. Cantor today, my opponent has shown that he would put his own political priorities ahead of New York farmers.”

Cantor, like House Speaker John Boehner, is doing a lot of traveling around New York’s battleground districts. This past weekend Boehner was in western New York for Republican Chris Collins. Cantor is expected to be in Rochester on Tuesday to help fundraise for Maggie Brooks.
