From foes to friends.

The Senate Republican Campaign Committee has transfered $160,000 in the last weeks of the campaign to Kathy Marchione, the GOP candidate who defeated Sen. Roy McDondald in a closely watched primary battle.

Campaign finances records posted for the committee’s 11-day pre general filing show Marchione received two separate transfers of $80,000 on Oct. 9 and later on Oct. 18.

The primary, which hinged on McDonald’s yes vote for same-sex marriage and Marchione’s opposition to it, dragged on for several weeks after voted ending as absentee ballots were counted.

McDonald chose not to continue his campaign, though he remains on the ballot as the Independence Party nominee.

Democrat Robin Andrews faces Marchione this fall.

As Jimmy Vielkind found out after the primary ended, the SRCC began a mail effort on Marchione’s behalf back on Oct. 10.

Meanwhile, Republicans have pumped nearly $1.5 million into several local Senate campaigns, including that Sen. Greg Ball in the Hudson Valley, City Councilman Eric Ulrich in Queens and Assemblyman George Amedore who is vying for the newly created “63rd” Senate district in the Albany area.

The SRCC has $1.6 million remaining in cash on hand after raising $734,875 this reporting cycle.

Update: Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos also gave Marchione and Sen. Stephen Saland $10,000 each on Oct. 10. And he transferred $150,000 to the SRCC.
