The governor’s Divisuion of Budget will hold its first official hearings on the comnig 2013-14 budget proposal starting Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

The hearings, which will focus on the Department of Correction and Community Services spending plan and the Office of Temporary & Disability Assistance, will include the agency chiefs outlining their official budget requests for the coming fiscal year, which begins April 1.

The hearings will feature Brian Fischer, the DOCCS commission and OTDA Executive Deputy Commissioner Elizabeth Berlin.

The more or less official start of budget season comes as Gov. Andrew Cuomo remains very much involved in the expensive relief and rebuilding effort in the New York City area following Hurricane Sandy.

The state’s budget gap was estmiated to be just under $1 billion, but Cuomo said recently he expects that figure to grow because of the $33 billion worth of damage done by the storm.
