Honorary Sister Rog -- Of course, I think Sampson should be dumped. No doubt about it. ANYBODY (but Ruben Diaz) would be better than Sampson.

My point is that LIZ KRUEGER would make a fine conference leader and it's appalling that she's excluded from consideration solely because she's WHITE. THAT'S what I mean by "they never learn." The black and hispanic members of the Senate Dems are YET AGAIN letting a person's color trump their qualifications to be leader. That's STUPID, racist and a recipe for failure.

Ms. Krueger is ALREADY filling the leadership vacuum in the Senate Dem Conference. She has been on TV and in the news many times over the last year. She always does an excellent job of rebutting the lunacy of Skelos and/or the governor. She has a PAC where she's been trying to help get some decent people elected, too. Not to mention she's been very loyal to Dem conference despite the MANY screwups of Malcolm Smith and John Sampson.

Now, I fully admit that Ms. Stewart-Cousins MAY be doing a lot for the conference that I have missed. If so, people should point it out to me. The media may have slighted her in providing opportunities to be more widely heard due to her of her race or gender.

My point is that while I prefer Ms. Stewart-Cousins to Sampson, I think that Liz Krueger trumps them both.

p.s. You should ALWAYS reward those who keep you power (like Shellly does with the guy who oversees Assembly redistricting) or restores you to power (more or less). Gianaris should be significantly rewarded for upping the number of Senate Dems. He might not be what's needed to be the conference leader, but he DOES deserve some serious recognition. Find a way to do it, no matter what.

" Without the people of color, the Senate is very old and very white"
Duh. The Democratic majority also has nothing to do with 90% of the land area of the state of New York, but that doesn't matter anymore.

No disagreement there. And clearly, ability to make deals, and ability to lead are not the same skill.

Roger To become "Leader" you have to make "DEALS", just ask anyone who has ever tried to become a "LEADER".

The person who makes the best "DEAL" wins.

So why not let the person who makes the best deal "WIN" regardless of color. ?

Roger outside of New York City is the rest of the state very "WHITE" ?

How white is "Albany County" ?

What about "Ulster County" home to all those who have second homes from NYC.

What percentage of the "Progressive Liberals" are "White"

I'm missing your point here, sista. Should they not toss Sampson? The guy raised less than $100K for this election cycle.

Should they not be focused on voting along racial lines? Well, maybe, but there are a number (small, but still a number) of qualified people of color in the Democratic Conference. Without the people of color, the Senate is very old and very white, and as far as the Republicans, have nothing in common with about 60% of the populous of the state of New York.

Honestly, on both sides of the aisle, there are only a handful of people qualified to be leader.

The right wing Republicans would do the same to Skelos, in a heartbeat.

The big problem here is the tipping of the hand the night before.....

They never learn. It's deja vu all over again. I give up advocating for them at the SoP. It's best that the Senate Dems HAVE been cheated out of leading. Let them wander out in the wilderness for at least another two years. They've "earned" it.
