Independent Democratic Conference Leader Jeff Klein has some new office space in the Legislative Office Building, moving from LOB 304 to LOB 913, the office suite that now retired Sen. Owen Johnson recently vacated.

The ninth-floor offices in the LOB are usually reserved for legislative leaders and senior lawmakers.

Though the Senate rules for the new session’s reorganization aren’t formally in place just yet, Klein’s office also includes the placard identifying him as the temporary president of the Senate.

The IDC and Senate Republicans have entered into a power-sharing agreement that allows Klein and Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos to share the title of Senate president. The coalition will give Klein and his fellow conference members joint control over the flow of legislation and policy in the chamber.

The five-member IDC is retaining its conference office space on the fifth floor of the Capitol.
